Gapyeong Trip: Nami Island, Chorongi Doongji Village and Flore Cafe

Nami Island

We started the trip by going to Nami Island. We came just in time, the fall leaves are so beautiful!

South Korea's top autumn destination! Nami island is frequented by almost everyone that goes to South Korea especially during fall season.

It looks much more vibrant than before! (The decreased flow of people due to the covid situation might have helped). The views are really great this year so expect a lush and lively welcome from the trees when hopefully people can visit again next year!

Tip: Make sure to plan your visit between the last week of October to the first week of November!

Did you know that you can make you own pizzas for lunch in Nami Island?

This restaurant allows you the option to make your own Napoli-style pizzas which you can also bake on the oven yourself!

They use high quality cheese and other ingredients so you are assured of an authentic pizza experience.

Entrance:
13,000원 (including ferry ride)

How to get there:
Seoul Station➡️Sangbong Station➡️Gapyeong Station➡️Bus No. 10-4 or Ride a taxi ( around 5000원)

Chorongi Doongji Village

This is what the entrance of the village looks like.

Seems familiar? It's pine nut noodle soup 잣칼국수! This dish is Gapyeong's specialty and was recently featured in 'Start-up'. Han Ji Pyeong said it was his favorite dish so Seo Dalmi brought it from Gapyeong for him to eat.

Aren't you curious what it tastes like?
In Chorongi Doongji Village, you can learn how to cook it!

The village also offers weaving activity where you can learn how to make mats.

There's also gangjeong 강정 making activity where you can learn how to make glutinous rice crackers which is a traditional Korean snack.

Rural village tourism in Korea revolves around learning new skills through village activities that have cultural and historical significance related to the area.

Here's another hidden spot! This village in Gapyeong has a small cypress forest that looks like the ones you see in fairy tales.

Such a cool place! I was surprised there was a place like that here!

This activity was my favorite part of our trip! It was very relaxing walking along the trail.

Flore Cafe

Recommended Cafe near Nami Island!

After your Nami island escapade, where else to go for somewhere non-mainstream?

How about going to this very cool greenhouse cafe! The outside looks very nice for photos!

There's also a treehouse in the back area where you can chill out!

The way they present the coffee is very unique!

Aside from being a cafe, it also functions as a restaurant as they also offer amazing Italian dishes such as pizza...

...pastas...

...calzones and even some Korean dishes.

Saehyeon Tunnel

There are more things to do in Flore that just hangout in a cafe or eat some lunch. There are bikes available in the cafe.

You can use them on the nearby biking road to reach what has now become a famous photospot, the Saekhyeon Tunnel!

The inside of the tunnel looks so beautiful! Definitely relaxing bike ride!

Very cool photozone! Just be careful of the bikers passing by.
