Iksan Trip Part 1: Blueberry Rice Cake Injeolmi Making Activity at Sandeulgang Ungpo Village (산들강 울포 마을)

Iksan is a region in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea. We recently traveled to Iksan and discovered that  the rural villages in Iksan has a lot of unique experiences to offer and will definitely make you want to pay a visit there! In our 2D1N trip, we managed to visit these areas which I will talk about in detail:

Sandeulgang Ungpo Village (산들강 웅포 마을)

The village's name was derived from San 산 (mountain), Deul들 (field) and Gang 강 (river) which are are all located nearby. 
A nice presentation of the village map. 
At the entrance, there is a bear mascot that holds a bowl of blueberries, the village's specialty. 
The surrounding scenery is very relaxing.
It's nice to explore around and stumble upon areas like these. 
I really like this spot and I'm sure the kids would love it too! 

Blueberry Picking and Blueberry Rice Cake Injeolmi Making Activity 

Have you always wanted to try some fresh blueberries? You can do the blueberry picking activity in Sandulgang village in Iksan.
It is touted as the top producer of the best quality blueberries in South Korea! 
Their blueberries really stand out from those found in the supermarket!
You can pick up to 1kg of blueberries which you can take home with you for 30,000 won.
Take note that blueberry harvesting season is quite short and is only available during the month of June.
One of their specialties is the blueberry injeolmi making activity. 
We made some injeolmi added with blueberries. 
It was delicious! The blueberry flavor blends perfecty with the taste and texture of the rice cake and injeolmi.

It was a nice experience, and you get to take home the ones you made.

Iksan Trip Part 2: Apple Vinegar Making Experience at Kosrak (고스락), the 4000-Jar Garden [The King Eternal Monarch Filming Location]

Kosrak (고스락) Kosrak Garden is one of the filming locations of the recent show "The King Eternal Monarch"!  It is a unique garden filled with as many as 4000 Hangari 항아리 (Jars) which are also used for fermentation. The jars blend perfectly with the landscape making a very unique combination perfect for your insta-shots. So many jars in one place! Such a nice way of immersing in Korean Traditional Culture. It's a great place to take awesome photos and enjoy the well-designed landscape.  There's also a spot where you can have an overlooking view of the whole area.  After walking around, there's also a cafe and an experience center where you can do some fermentation activities. Suncheon Bay Wetlands, serenity at it's finest

This is my favorite place in South Korea. The whole place is just stunning! During fall and winter season, the reeds also become golden brown which transforms the place. This time we went  during summer so everything was green! The Suncheonman Wetlands is a well-preserved natural coastline rich in biodiversity and acts as a sanctuary for animals especially migratory birds. The entrance facility looks really modern and at the same time, eco-friendly. You will pass along this beautiful tunnel.  The backdrop of the surrounding mountains and the clear skies completes the whole natural landscape. Because of its remarkable beauty, this place has been designated as one of the Recommended Wellness Spots in South Korea. Take a healing trip!
